Yes! Tactile signing is a means of communication used by people who are both Deaf and blind. Some of our interpreters are trained in the Pro-Tactile (PT) philosophy, which provides greater access, connection, and autonomy by conveying visual and environmental information through tapping. ASL is conveyed via hand-to-hand contact and can be quite taxing, physically, for the interpreters. Most tactile assignments require a team of two interpreters to avoid injury.
