Katie Winters comes to Austin from the Great Commonwealth of Massachusetts. It was up north that she studied at the interpreter training programs at Northern Essex Community College and The University of New Hampshire. During her internship at the Gallaudet University Regional Center, she fell in love with Gally’s Academic Bowl for Deaf high school students. She volunteered annually for the competition in the Northeast region, and even drove down to Washington, D.C. in 2009 to volunteer for the national championship at Gallaudet University.
Moving to Austin has proven to be an adventure, and she fits right in at Communication by Hand. Known for her love of animals (she owns a hairless Sphynx cat, Pixie) and throwing theme parties, Katie has professed an interest in helping keep Austin “weird.” On the job at CbH with scheduling, she’s a master at arranging appointments and multitasking. Her helpful nature and cheery attitude are only a phone call away.
